I like the idea of bringing Quinn up, would be a good influence and presence for some of the kids who played for him down on the farm.
Just a thought, what about trying to bring in a more seasoned coach at the NHL level who just arent getting a look at head coaching duties right now, for example Wilson, Renney, Sutter. Sacco can learn from the more seasoned guys and in case he fails out of the gate, instant replacement already on the bench, |

Bring up Quinn and hire Renney, Quinn would be great for the defense and Renney is actually known as a very good tactician when it comes to the offensive zone.
I'll take Renney's coaching abilities on the powerplay, that's about the only area EDM was good at last year.
Since both Deader and Sly left aren't there two positions? |

Army got the promoition from video coach to assistant once Deader had to step down.
If there is an Amnesty clasue this CBA can we use it on Saccos contract instead? |

LMAO that would be sweet, haa
In that case I think I would rather have Quinn and then when Sacco f*s up hire Roy. Since Roy is known for being a more offensive coach. All I know is I want a balanced team not one of these teams like the Rangers or what they tried to turn Washington into. |

Haha, I don't think he would be terrible. You don't you move him to a office position. Then in a month or so he decides to leave for whatever reason.
I am sure teams do things like that here and there to save face with certain people.
Oh I was going to mention this..
In EK's Q&A yesterday I asked him what if anything hes heard about Colorado being active or inactive in free-agency. I said we needed a top 6 forward and a partner for EJ (Not easy to fill), He says "Well said, I think they could get in on Staal at the last minute"
Seriously..? lol I mean I get it if he was just throwing something out there but... and he wonders why people don't take him seriously. |

Yeah..
I like Staal but no matter how hard I try to spin it, there is no way that makes sense.
On another note, If Parise ends up off the market I wouldn't mind #1 Semin #2 AK46. It might kill two birds with one stone. Varlamov probably wouldn't mind having another Russian on the team.
My question for you would be.. Who would you rather have Semin @ 5.5-6M or AK46 @ 3.5-4M?
AK46 might be a good physical option for secondary scoring in the 2nd/3rd line LW spot. I guess my fear with that would be, that is putting a lot of faith in McGinn really being able to hold down a 1st line LW position.
It would be the difference between..
Semin - Stastny - Jones
Landeskog - Duchene - Mueller
McGinn - O'Reilly - Downie
vs
McGinn - Stastny - Jones
Landeskog - Duchene - Mueller
AK46 - O'Reilly - Downie
Hmmm.. (There really won't be much left I would be interested in after those two.) |

Semin I could live with as I think Mueller-Duchene-Semin would destroy when it clicks.
AK46 has too many questionable activities off the ice for me to consider him. While there's little trouble to be had in Colorado, I don't want to take the chance.
I'd be okay coming away with Semin and Barrett Jackman. We already know Jackman fits well with EJ. He'd even be an upgrade over SOB.
With Semin at 5.5 (max I'd go on him) and Jackman at 4.5 (max I'd go there too) we have a good team while only adding about $10 mill in salary. That's doable. |

My only problem with having Semin and Mueller both on Duchene's line would be having three completely offensive minded forwards on one line. Duchene I fully expect to improve in that area and Mueller is not terrible defensively but not exactly that strong either.
Semin's defensive numbers are actually ok.. He does have one of the best plus/minus ratings on the Caps but he isn't known for his two-way play either. I do think the Russian sniper thing has put a label on him a bit but still..
I would like to see a power forward on each line. Jones would be fine as the power forward on Stastny's line because Stastny is strong at both ends.
Doan probably won't be leaving PHX but I wouldn't mind a veteran power guy like that playing with Mueller & Duchene either. (Dater mentioned him in his blogg)

Yeah I could totally get behind that. It would look something like this..

I wouldn't mind that.. Just having him stand on the bench directly behind Duchene every night would be worth it. Duchene would be afraid to come back to the bench every time he had a bad shift. |

Just have him on the bench as EJ's personal advisor. he instantly would be playing with more edge and a mean streak with Footer advising him shift by shift |

Looks like it'll be Quinn. Might be one of the few teams whose assistants are better than the head coach. Army could be a diamond in the rough as well.

word on the street is that the avs are parting ways with mcclement. am i the only one upset by this? i thought he provided a ton of leadership that the team obviously needs, and was great defensively and on the pk (i thought at least). |

Hey Aaron...I was watching "Pardon The Interuption" on ESPN yesterday and the topic of the NHL Lockout came up, and they said its almost certain that the owners will lock out the players this coming September when the CBA is expired cause the players are getting 57% revenue or something like that, which is higher than the NFL and the NBA.
Have you heard anything on the new CBA? And is it going to get ugly like it did a couple of years ago? |

First of all, the folks at ESPN wouldn't know hockey if it came up and froze LeBron James' testicles, so saying that it is "likely" isn't a testament of any hard fact. Only Cowlishaw spends time focusing on hockey and only he understands it.
Second, it's hard to say. The comments by Trevor Linden aren't encouraging but if there is a lockout, I doubt the NHL'll lose a full season. |

That was quick naming Quinn as his replacement and it was the most logical and probably the best choice in my opinion.
